Jesus Unexpected

I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (‭Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭3-6‬ NIV)

These verses have been my song since Sunday, especially verse 6.  I hear God promising that the work He began in me 5 years ago … He will continue.  He’s not done with me!  When I read verse 6, I am energized!  All I can do is love Him deeper and serve Him with greater joy and intensity, because He is faithful.  Gods promises are true!

But today these verses carry much more impact, for God is not only working powerfully in my life, He’s also powerfully at work in the lives of a couple I dearly love.

These were the ones God used to speak truth into my life.  They accepted me as I was, sinful and broken.  I really didn’t know what was wrong with me or Who I needed to be whole.  I was a beggar, hungry and thirsty.  Luke and Felisha showed me where to find bread and water.

Luke was the pastor of a small church plant at that time.  My first pastor.  I cut my teeth on Gods word through Luke’s delivery.  Luke’s preaching made Jesus real to me.  No watered down gospel, just life giving truth.

3 years ago they experienced a crisis in their marriage that caused great change and turmoil.  Luke made the choice to step down from church leadership and allow God to begin the difficult process of healing and restoration in their lives.

Today, because of the miracle of modern technology, I had the great joy of hearing my first pastor preach again.  It’s more than just the enjoyment of a great biblical message well delivered …. Check it for yourself in the link below ….  It’s a heart celebrating Gods goodness and faithfulness.  My Jesus.  Healer.  Restorer.
