I have an opportunity this summer, July 7-14, to join a team from LifeSong Church on a mission trip to Jacmel, Haiti. On our trip we will be working directly with starving children through an established feeding program, helping with food preparation and serving lunch daily. In addition, our team will be helping sand and paint homes in partnership with “Restore Haiti” alongside the families who will benefit from this construction work.
Our main focus, however, is to minister to the women there. While many of the children have US sponsors , their mothers do not. Women are in desperate need of basic items, such as bras and dresses. They need the message of truth, hope and love, as well as the gifts of basic clothing that we will be taking with us. I’m excited to think of what God is going to do in our lives and the lives of the people of Jacmel through this ministry. I hope you see the value of what we plan to accomplish.
As you can imagine, we need financial support. My lodging, meal and ground transportation fee through “Restore Haiti” amounts to $450 and is due byJuly 7. Airfare cost can range from $600 to $900, and is needed June 1 at the latest. We also need financial support for the purchase of bras and appropriate dresses in various sizes. (We are happy to collect your contribution of these items if you prefer.) Any financial support you can offer is greatly appreciated!
If you would like to be a part of this ministry through financial support, please send your check payable to “LifeSong Church” and be sure to include “Elena Bowling / July Mission Trip” on the memo line. I can provide you with the mailing address if needed. Your contribution is tax deductible. You may also donate online at www.lifesongchurchonline.com, and click on the “Online Giving” link near the top. Be sure to include my name and mission in the comments section.
While financial support is necessary, most importantly I ask for your prayers. Prayer is critical to the success of this mission …. pray for our team, for our families, for the ongoing mission of “Restore Haiti”, for current and future sponsors, and for the people of Jacmel. Without God in this mission, it’s just another humanitarian effort.
